Strategic Land Use Communications (Local Referenda, Initiatives and Public Awareness Campaigns)

Due to the relatively small number of signatures required to qualify a local referendum or initiative in California, it has become an expectation that any land use proposal that runs into organized opposition is likely to end up on the ballot and be subject to voter approval.  Over the last 15 years, we have worked on more than a dozen successful efforts to support high-quality, sustainable local development proposals - and oppose problematic ones. Our recent clients include major sports teams, affordable housing providers, a private college, community groups, retail shopping centers, and private developers of transit-friendly and infill commercial, residential or office proposals. In each of these efforts, we achieved our clients' goals by building grassroots support as well as communicating the benefits of specific proposals through paid and earned media.

At the heart of every campaign is a strong fundraising effort. Here at TBW we offer fundraising consulting services to ensure that our clients raise the money needed to fund a successful campaign. We work with our candidates to create strong donor databases, prepare calls to donor prospects, plan events and work with the candidate and other campaign fundraisers to execute a strong fundraising plan. We handle the details and follow up to ensure the maximum efficiency of our candidate’s time.
